I recently read an interesting idea in a book entitled Leonardo to the Internet by Thomas Misa. Misa proposes a corollary to Moore’s Law (the idea that every eighteen months the speed of computer chips doubles). He writes “the size of computer operating systems and software applications has doubled at the same pace as the operational speed of computer chips, soaking up the presumed power of the hardware and blunting its impact.” Too true! Window’s Visa, anyone?
